TROUBLING DAYS OF UNCERTAINTY

This is one of the most anxiety provoking and fear laden times of uncertainty in recent history. We’ve watched movies chronicling various plagues that brought about the deaths of thousands; but those were primitive times. This is the era of modern medicine and brilliant research that boasts significant breakthroughs on a regular basis. We’ve been afforded the comfort of knowing if there isn’t a cure, one is just around the corner, and in the meantime, there are at least medications that can abate ones’ symptoms.

God commands us 365 times in the bible, “Do not fear.” He is so Good, so Loving and so Provisional. God knew that stormy and uncertain days would come. He knew there would be things so awful and detrimental to the natural human experience that He provided access to supernatural truths to anchor us to hope in His power alone. We present some of these truths to provoke you to actively guard your heart and focus on the Sovereignty of God even in times like these.

WHAT ABOUT PSLAMS 91, THE PROTECTION CHAPTER

What about God's promise of protection? What about His mandate to not be fearful, anxious nor afraid? What about no weapon formed against you shall prosper? What about His angels having a charge directly from the Almighty God Himself to keep us in ALL our ways. Is there any truth at all to Psalms 91? Where IS God right now?

You may have asked these very questions. You may have battled these types of thoughts. You may be wondering if God is angry with us. It’s understandable that these are thoughts we battle in a time like this. AND, BATTLE WE MUST! This time of uncertainty is a time to make sure you are desperately anchored to the only thing that has not and will not change. God’s Word has, is and forever will be a strong tower to which the righteous run and find safety. (The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10)

FEAR, WORRY, ANXIETY, AND STRESS ARE NOT YOUR PORTION

God knows that one of the enemies’ most powerful weapons against us is the battle against our minds. Fear can cripple your faith, confuse your confidence and crush your beliefs. When fear attains a secure hold on your mind, worry and anxiety are the result. Anxiety is the belief that you don’t have what it takes to meet a challenge. Can I remain safe and uninfected during this pandemic? Can I recover if I become infected? Will I die like others are dying? Anxiety affects your peace and can create debilitating stress. The stress of anxiety is known to create aches and pains in just about every part of the body.

TWO UNCHANGEABLE THINGS THAT WILL ANCHOR YOUR SOUL

GOD IS KEEPING, PROTECTING, SAVING, AND DELIVERING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF US THROUGHOUT THIS PANDEMIC, INCLUDING YOU IF YOU ARE ABLE TO READ THIS. IF YOU DON’T DELIBERATELY GIVE RULERSHIP TO THE PEACE OF GOD TO GUARD YOUR MIND BY THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST, YOU WILL EASILY PERMIT FEAR, ANXIETY, WORRY AND STRESS TO TAKE IT OVER.

We present some of these truths to provoke you to actively guard your hears and focus on the Sovereignty of God even in times like these.

YOU ARE A SUPERNATURAL BEING HAVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE

What’s happening is real! The pain is real! The heartache is real! The losses are real! We lost a dear church family member a couple of days ago. She delivered soup to my home on a Friday and was gone the following Friday. While writing this article I received word that someone I adore as much as life itself has been diagnosed with COVID19-related pneumonia and is in quarantine. I’ve broken down into tears more than once.

I am practicing what I preach. I must remind myself that I’m not a human having a supernatural experience, rather, I’m an eternal supernatural being having a temporary human experience. God is a healer and even if He doesn’t, He is still a perfect God with a perfect plan and He is still able. What He brings me through, He will take me through.

Walking in the spirit and not in the flesh is more critical than ever. Grieve your hurt and your losses but do not be overcome by them. Do not succumb to the hurt and loss as if you have no promise from God of better days ahead. Let the benefits of your salvation arise within you. Use the weapon of praise warfare. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness. Psalms 30:11

Be determined to grow into an “oak of righteousness”, mature and established in your understanding that as for God, His way is perfect, His word is tried and His judgments are right. The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3

Accept and hold fast to what is certain and true. Again, So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” Hebrews 6:18-19
